Please excuse the mess. While I was thinking of making my own grid for my site, I ran across cameron moll’s article showing the grid of a 960px width layout. 960px is the optimal screen width of someone viewing a site on a 1024×768 resolution. This is actually kinda cool being able to put a background like that in a snap. Ahh.. CSS.
My wife asked me what the grid is for. I told her that it is the base element of any layout or design. Specially for buckets of text and content. These things need to be placed squarely on a page. If you are interested to read more about grids, I suggest you start with this article by Mark Boulton about designing grids.
Now on to making some use of this grid.
