Urban Seeder

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

My IDII batchmate Maya Lotan has come out with a innovative new service (still in closed beta) about creating ways or chances of meeting people. It is called UrbanSeeder. I think this was based on her thesis, which unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to see. Here is the text from the site:
“Meeting [...]

Large exhibit in Megamall

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

By chance I was able to catch the ongoing photo exhibit in megamall this weekend. The exhibit is called LARGE 8.. or at least I think so. This is a photo exhibit massive in scale. The theme was abstraction and the photographers included were BenCab, Zobel, Escaler, etc. If you like [...]

TIME magazine redesign

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

TIME magazine released its first redesigned issue this month. I think they have been slowly transitioning into it for a while now, starting with the “TIME” font. Now even the structure has been redesigned. According to Pentagram: “The magazine has been organized into four clearly defined sections—Briefing, The Well, Life and Arts—to help [...]

Processing Sketch #2

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Here is another processing sketch whose code I actually got from a book. I modified some settings like color, stroke and transparency. But I think the code itself is nice on its own. I’ll publish the actual java applet later.  But as you can see, with only little setting variations can generate different [...]

Google? Is that you?

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Visit the google personalized home page and see the new button on the top right: “Select Theme” Wow. This is a big step for google. I mean they are known for their simple white straightforward search site. Have they succumbed to the “portal” pressure? Could this be the end of Google? Hardly. [...]

Special Awards Finalist!

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Woot! Woot! Thanks to Philippine Blog Awards for putting this blog as one of the finalists in the special awards category ‘Best Blog Design.’ The news came from a colleague who said congratulations. At first I was wondering why, my mind was somewhere else finishing deadlines as usual, then I checked my email [...]

Joomla Workshop

Monday, March 12th, 2007

Yesterday I attended a workshop on Joomla. Joomla is a Content Management System (CMS) for websites. It was nice because the person who held it was someone from the core team of joomla: Johan Janssens, a lead developer. It started out as an “evangelist” session where they introduced joomla and showed its [...]

Oops I did it

Saturday, March 3rd, 2007

I was hesitant to enter my site in the philippine blog awards 2007. But guess what? I did. I don’t think I will win in the main category of “personal site,” just because of the amount of nominees. But I hope I have a chance in the special awards category “best design”
I [...]

Still a lot of work to do

Friday, March 2nd, 2007

I considered submitting my site to the Philippine Blog Awards but I realize that my template is so incomplete! I’ve got so much more templating fixes to do. When I can find the time to do them still escapes me. But I do get some joy every time something I edit in [...]
