Woot! Woot! Thanks to Philippine Blog Awards for putting this blog as one of the finalists in the special awards category ‘Best Blog Design.’ The news came from a colleague who said congratulations. At first I was wondering why, my mind was somewhere else finishing deadlines as usual, then I checked my email and saw that the news was blasted out in the group mailing list. Wohoo! I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. Consequently a lot of people started to say congratulations as well. Thanks guys. :) Aside from blushing, my reply was I’m not yet a winner and it’s not yet over. Let’s keep our fingers crossed. I am very honored to be a finalist though as one of my design idols is in the panel of judges.

Now I feel like I have to reintroduce this blog and what design process it went through during the last 3 months. I started blogging around mid-December last year. I maintain a personal blog with my wife , and thought that I should create another avenue for my design thoughts, inspiration and ideas as well as a repository for sketches and work done. It has added another unexpected topic, which ties in with my obsession with knowing my audience: site metrics. I have reviewed a couple of site traffic monitoring web applications plus other web tech indulgences I may have.

So I started out with a bare-bones wordpress template. I played around with fonts, grids, and color. Eventually I had to change even my own logo. If you are interested to see the evolution, here is a 500kb jpeg of screenshots of this blog evolving (thumbnail shown above.)
