I say mysterious because only one computer in the office has seen it. I tried viewing yahoo.com on my mac, a newer PC and an older PC simultaneously but only the old one, using firefox, saw it. Weird. It seems like an easter egg prank is being played by yahoo. TechCrunch also documented seeing this phenomenon. But since we’re here, let me just quickly say I perfer the old logo, but using the purple color. Purple being more “branded” for me as the yahoo color, more than red. The typography of the new one is new-ish and maybe they’re showing that they are ushering in a new era of yahoo, probably differentiating it from the serif Google… still, I think there was much investment made with the serif “Y” to make it a recognizable brand.

Agree, I like the old yahoo logo vs. the new one. The old logo has a friendlier font vibe. :)
The new one seems like a funkified Jabra logo. The old logo is (or was) definitely a classic. Purple has been going around their services, but personally, it’s too niche a color for them methinks.
You made me check out whether the new logo will be seen through my computer. Unfortunately, I only saw the old one. Maybe they want to shift to something more hip and trendy thus the new font and color? Just to differentiate or find a niche vs. Google.
On a personal note, how can i contact you about your services? Please email me through the addy I provided you. Thanks and keep blogging. You give very useful info.
Thanks L! That’s so nice to hear…that you think I give very useful info. :) and I shall keep on blogging! I’ll email you privately.
Yes, I agree with you. I also prefer the old logo which is the red one because people already recognizes yahoo with the red logo than the purple logo. For me, the purple logo is not recognizable, it’s dull.
