More SMART logo changes

Monday, May 26th, 2008

About a week or two after I posted my thoughts on the redesign of SMART Communications’ logo, I saw this huge billboard in EDSA corner Pioneer St. promoting the new SMART Buddy campaign, this after their SMART Bro promotion. They have also come out with other campaigns for their other brands:
The logos to [...]

It is me or did SMART change their logo?

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

SMART Communications Inc. is, arguably, the top mobile network operator in the Philippines boasting of over 25 million subscribers.  I have written about the recent rebranding of their competitor Globe. Could this be their answer back?  I didn’t hear of any launch party like what Globe did, probably because it didn’t merit one.  It seemed [...]

Globe Rebrands

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Last night a friend sent me an SMS saying that she just came from the launch party of the Globe rebranding. She had mentioned this a couple of weeks ago and wanted to know what I thought of it since I do love logo design and branding.
It seems like a group-wide initiative by [...]

iPhone! iPhone!

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Yes! That’s an iPhone in my hand and that’s my dog, Lupo, on the wallpaper and I want to share my experience playing with it for the first couple of days. This might be a long article so this is actually the first time I’ll have a “read more” link at the bottom of [...]

Microsoft Surface

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Just to add to the noise generated by the ‘All Things Digital‘ (D5) conference.. I am fascinated by Microsoft’s new hardware product: Surface.  Surface is a multi-touch screen table that seems to have its own OS and built-in applications.

The product seems to be Microsoft’s answer to Apple’s multi-touch iPhone, albeit a big clunky delayed copy [...]

TIME magazine redesign

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

TIME magazine released its first redesigned issue this month. I think they have been slowly transitioning into it for a while now, starting with the “TIME” font. Now even the structure has been redesigned. According to Pentagram: “The magazine has been organized into four clearly defined sections—Briefing, The Well, Life and Arts—to help [...]

Google? Is that you?

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

Visit the google personalized home page and see the new button on the top right: “Select Theme” Wow. This is a big step for google. I mean they are known for their simple white straightforward search site. Have they succumbed to the “portal” pressure? Could this be the end of Google? Hardly. [...]

Reinvigorate (your metrics)

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

A couple of weeks ago, I got an invitation to beta test this newish site metrics web software. I’m not sure if this was the same one, but I tried reinvigorate before. And back then they were still tracking site traffic but by using flash.. or embedding a flash code inside your flash [...]

BPI Online Redesigns

Thursday, January 4th, 2007

My first critique post.
My wife showed me that BPI has finally redesigned their site. BPI is one of the local sites we use the most since we do most of transactions online like payment of bills and transfering funds. We were very frustrated the first time we went to the site a couple [...]
